On Saturday August 15, Embrace hosts their annual Time Festival at the historic Fort York Garrison Commons. Time Festival continues to bring an eclectic mix of musical talent, to embrace music beyond today’s niche sub-genres, by replacing this divide with an obscure and unique line-up. Covering all bases from indie rock, hip-hop, techno, to electro all on one main stage. This year’s line-up pushes the limits on obscurity with headlining act Die Antwood. The South African rap-rave duo have managed to push all the boundaries with their perplex style of music, gothic-grunge appearance and violently exhilarating performances. Mac Demarco and self-proclaimed “jizz jazz”/ indie rock artist from British Columbia makes his Time debut after a very successful year with the release of his album Salad Days. The Young Indiana born, rap artist Freddie Gibbs brings Toronto’s hip-hop kids out to Garrison Commons to turn up. Get your techno fix with Canadian producer Ryan Hemsworth, as he returns to Time Festival for his second year in a row! Time Festival brings together a collective group of musicians including Toronto’s own, Badbadnotgood. This talented trio consisting of Alexander Sowinski, Chester Hansen, Matthew Tavares have worked together with rap artists such as Odd Futures Earl Sweatshirt, Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah and many more. If you’re not a fan of Jazz music already, these young lads may just change that for you. Come early, bring a blanket, grab a patch of grass and enjoy a beautiful sunny day of music, friends, food and art on August 15th!
